The Return of the Boys of Summer!!

Today is a very exciting day in the Carter household! After a long winter preceeded by a depressing loss to the White Sox in October, the Twins are back! Tonight is the home opener against the Seattle Mariners and we have tickets (it's tradition afterall) for the game. We will be sitting in the Metrodome tonight, cheering on our favorite team along with 40,000 other fans, anticipating the home opener next year. For those of you who don't follow the Twins as closely as we do (I guess you can be forgiven), this is the last year in the Metrodome. The Twins will again be playing baseball outdoors next year at brand new Target Field. We can't wait to take Elmo to games! The poor thing has no choice but to be a Twins fan.

Speaking of Elmo, we've made it to week 26 - the final week of the second trimester! I'm still feeling great and looking forward to the home stretch. Elmo is moving quite a bit now, regardless of whether I'm trying to sleep or not (hints of things to come I think). I've begun to have frequent baby dreams -- probably 3-4 times a week. Sometimes Elmo is a girl, sometimes a boy but always the cutest baby ever! This is what's happening this week:

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches from head to heel.

Grow, baby, grow! Scott and I will hopefully take some more pictures this week so I can post one of my ever-expanding belly. Until then, have a great week!
